Obituary

Kingston, NH:  Eddie C. Thurnquist, 88, a resident of Kingston since 1940, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his home.

Born in Boston, MA, the son of the late Carl and Gunhild M. (Johnson) Thurnquist, he was raised in Cambridge and was a graduate of Ringe Technical High School.  He served as a Private First Class in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953 and was a recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal.

Mr. Thurnquist was employed as a Supervisor of Systems Control at Cambridge Electric Light Co. and also worked for Commonwealth Electric of Wareham until his retirement.

Until recently he served as Supervisor of the Checklist for the Town of Kingston and had also served as the Financial Officer of UWUA AFL-CIO Local 392.  He was a member of the Gideon Lodge #84 F. & A.M., the Kingston Veteran's Club and Post 1088 of the Kingston VFW.  He was a past member of Oscar II Vasa Order of America, Cambridge, MA and the Berka Lodge #732 of Hamilton, MA.

The husband of the late Mary E. (Eisner) Thurnquist, who died in 1998, he is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Lars Boergesson of Sweden, Megan Lee Thurnquist of Kingston, Kim D. and Paul Ulrich of Barrington, NH and Teri D. Thurnquist of Kingston; four grandchildren, Richard, Ashley, Matthew and Ryan; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, February 5, 2017, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.  Members of Gideon Lodge will conduct a service at 3:15 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.  His funeral will begin on Monday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10 AM in Mary Mother of the Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Newton, NH. A reception will follow at the Kingston VFW on Route 125.   Burial will take place in the spring at the Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden, MA.
