Newton, NH: Earl F. Savery, 92, longtime resident of Newton, NH, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at High Pointe House, attended by his wife, Marilyn, and other family members.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late William and Emma (Lund) Savery. Earl grew up in Coney Island, NY where he attended the area schools before moving to Staten Island, NY. For many, many years he was a Staten Island Ferry Captain. Earl was also a Master Carpenter. He moved to Newton, NH in 1982 to live near his wife's family.
Known as "Slim", or "Earl the Pearl", he was an extremely talented carpenter who enjoyed helping others with projects and did so out of the kindness of his heart. He loved reading books on historic events, cooking and most of all, spending time with his family.
Earl will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of forty-five years, Marilyn (Danforth) Savery of Newton, NH, daughters, Cathleen Savery of Ridgefield, CT; Marya Stanzione of Saugerties, NY, Peta Bartles and her husband, Stephen of Rhinebeck, NY; daughter-in-law, Patrice Savery of Cape Cod, MA; stepchildren, Kathie Raymond of Newton, NH and Bradley Raymond of Illinois. Also survived by twenty grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. Earl was predeceased by his first wife, Joan (Brown) Savery, his sons, Christopher and Daniel Savery, and his brother, Leif Savery.
Services for Earl will be private.
