Obituary

Douglas F. Thompson, 82, passed away on December 2, 2025, at the Prescott House Memory Care Facility in North Andover. He was in a period of declining health since June of this year when he lost his wife of 63 years, Natalie A. Thompson. He showed remarkable strength and was very brave for his family during this difficult time.

Douglas was born on June 22, 1943,  just seconds after his twin sister Peggy, making him the youngest of 8 children to William H Thompson ll and Margaret (Spence). It is interesting to note that Doug and Peggy, the twins, were born on their sister June's 11th birthday.

He attended the Haverhill Trade School, and went on to work at Bond Tobacco where he met the love of his life, Natalie. He later went on to work at Haverhill Beef Company, and then became a meat cutter for DeMoulas Supermarkets. He rose through the ranks with DeMoulas, becoming a long time manager and retired after 35 years with the company.

After retiring he remained very busy, working at the Sutton Street Garage in North Andover and later working as security at the Topsfield Fair.

Doug was a simple man who could often be seen at his home on North Broadway riding around on his lawn mower. He loved nothing more than enjoying a cold soda or beer, a jar of peanuts or a bag of pretzels,  playing solitaire at the table for hours on end, listening to the Red Sox games or watching reruns of Gun Smoke.

He took much pride in his family. Always there to lend a helping hand to friends, extended family and neighbors, always with a big smile and quick with a joke, right up til the very end.

He will be very missed by all those who knew him.

Douglas leaves behind his daughters Joyce Thompson of North Hampton, NH, Susan Thompson of Haverhill, Christine Wilson and her husband Daniel of Haverhill. Granddaughters Lindsay Williams and her wife Kayla, Courtney Williams, Isabelle Wilson, Emily Wilson and her partner Thomas Volpone, Victoria Wilson, and twin great-grandchidren, Wyatt and Chase Williams.

He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.  He leaves behind his sisters in law Jane Lesiczka (John) and Patricia Lesiczka.

Douglas was pre-deceased by his wife of 63 years, Natalie A. (Lesiczka), his sisters Marjorie (Earl) Boudreau, June (Robert) Kennedy, and Margaret Etter. He was predeceased by his brothers William (Arline) H Thompson III, Donald (Marie) W. Thompson, Kenneth Thompson and Warren (Sandra) Thompson.
