Nashua, NH: Dorothy A. (Noyes) Poole, 88, formerly of Atkinson, NH and Newburyport, MA, died July 1, 2017 at Hunt Community in Nashua, with her devoted husband by her side.

She was born in Wakefield, MA to Mildred (Woodward) and Hollis Noyes. Raised in Wakefield and Newburyport, she graduated from Newburyport High School in 1947. As a young woman she was a featured soprano in numerous musical presentations, and was known for her ability to sing in English, French and German with the correct and precise pronunciations.

Dorothy was formerly employed at Hicks Bakery, Towle Silver, and Fowles News Company as well as at several companies in the Boston area.
Married to her husband of sixty-six years, Wilbur James Poole, she spent several years in the employ of various divisions of the CIA and was stationed for two years intervals in Taiwan, Nigeria, Belgian Congo, Laos, Iran, Cyprus, Thailand, Australia, and the Virginia and Washington DC area. She was a recipient of the Indian Gurka Division Insignia for being held under fire in Katanga, Congo.

Following their retirement, Dorothy and Wilbur spent the next thirty-five years as resident of Atkinson, NH, before moving to the Hunt Community of Nashua two years ago.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her loving husband Wilbur J. Poole, a niece Felicia Knowles, and a nephew Richard Knowles and his wife Ellen.  She was pre-deceased by her sister, Lois Knowles-Evans, and a niece Andrea Knowles.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Life Celebration to be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral home, 116 Main St., Route 121 A, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will take place on Saturday at 10a.m. in the funeral home with burial to follow in Thomas Parker Cemetery, Newbury, MA.
