Methuen: Doris C. (Tardy) Vallant, 87, a resident of Methuen, and formerly of Lawrence and Haverhill, died Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Nevins Home in Methuen.
Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Albertine (Turcotte) Tardy. Doris was raised in Haverhill and attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and graduated from Haverhill High School in 1956. She was first employed in the local shoe industry and later worked as a gardener at Royal Crest Estates in North Andover. She was last employed in the Elder Care industry and also worked as a housekeeper in private homes.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Doris volunteered as a den mother for her son's local Cub Scout pack and enjoyed gardening, playing cards, taking and sharing countless pictures of family and friends and spending time with her family.
Doris is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen J. and Amy Vallant of Methuen, a daughter, Deborah Matranga of Haverhill, her two grandsons, Tyler J. Vallant and Christoper C. Vallant of Methuen, who were the light of her life, three brothers, Donald Tardy of Brentwood, NH, George Tardy of Munson, Maine and Walter Tardy of Haverhill, two sisters, Therese Chouinard of Plaistow and Helen Leavitts, of Bradford, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Richard Tardy and John Tardy, and her husband, James F. Vallant.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours to be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill.
