Haverhill, MA: Doris R. (Brackett) St. Louis, age 99, peacefully passed away on April 26, 2020 engulfed in the love of her devoted family.
Born in Haverhill, MA, she was the daughter of Eliza and Chester Brackett. She graduated from St. Joseph School and attended Haverhill High School.
Doris worked at the L. H. Hamel Leather Company, at the front counter in Mitchell's Department Store, and at the Old Stage Campground Variety Store in Dover, NH. Doris was the "official, cheerful greeter" and made the "best popcorn ever" into her early nineties.
Doris was married to her one-time love, the late Raymond E. St. Louis for fifty wonderful and exciting years of marriage, raising two loving daughters. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, bowling, fishing, playing bingo and cards. They wintered in Barefoot Bay, Florida and summered in Dover, NH. They were active members in service clubs in both Massachusetts and Florida and participated in a variety of activities.
Doris was a devout Catholic and practiced Christian values throughout her life. She was an active member of several parishes in Haverhill, Dover, NH and Barefoot Bay, FL. Doris was a devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and dear friend. Family was always Doris's top priority, and she was happiest at family gatherings and celebrations. Those fond memories will be in our hearts forever.
Doris was predeceased by her beloved husband of fifty years, Raymond E. St. Louis in 1989 and by her daughter, Patricia A. Redfearn in 2018. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Theresa M. "Terry" Maroney and her husband, Timothy J. Maroney of Bradford, MA; her son-in-law, Arnold M. Redfearn of Barefoot Bay, FL and Dover, NH; granddaughter, Lindsay R. Maroney of Haverhill, MA and her loving companion, David Gaudet. She also leaves four grandsons, Michael R. Redfearn and his wife, Margie Tieslau of Texas, David A. Redfearn and his wife, Karen of Haverhill, MA, Shawn E. Redfearn and his wife, Sharon of Plaistow, NH, and Scott P. Redfearn and his wife, Rachel of Gonic, NH. Grieving great-grandchildren include Thomas Tombarello, Jr. and his wife, Jeanette, Alexander Redfearn, Evan Redfearn, Paul Bianchi and his wife, Angela, Kenny Bianchi and his wife, Angela, Marisa Traskos and her husband, Andy, Michael Bianchi, and Kyle and Madison Redfearn. Great-great grandchildren include Thomas Tombarello, III, Nova, Vega, Madeline and Anthony Bianchi, and Anson and Wyatt Traskos. Doris was also predeceased by her adoring brother, Howard Brackett of Detroit and Texas.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral to be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 9 a.m. from Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill , with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill. Those attending are asked to follow the Commonwealth of Massachusetts guidelines regarding social distancing as well as the wearing of masks in both the funeral home and the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or at dana-farber.org .
