Plaistow, NH: Doris B. (Mackernan) Noyes, 95, a longtime resident of Plaistow, died on December 9, 2015 at her home.
Born on May 11, 1920 in Melrose, MA, daughter of the late Annie Gertrude (Stone) and William F. Mackernan, she graduated from Melrose High School with the Class of 1938.
An accomplished vocalist, Mrs. Noyes sang with the Cecelia Society under the direction of Arthur Fiedler and was a church soloist for several churches in the Melrose, MA area. She was also the Choir Director of the First Baptist Church in Plaistow for several years.
Mrs. Noyes had been employed for General Electric Company during World War II, Converse Rubber Company, and Hewlett-Packard.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albin L. Noyes, her daughter, Deborah F. Noyes, her parents, Annie and William Mackernan, sisters, Edith Fellows and Cassie Batson, and her brothers, James and David Mackernan.
She is survived by her daughters, Christine Thornbury and Cynthia Noyes, both of Plaistow, two grandsons, Nicholas Thornbury of Plaistow, and Grant Thornbury and his wife Miranda of Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. A memorial service will follow at 1:45 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Plaistow. The family requests that attendees wear Mrs. Noyes's favorite color, Red, to the services.
