Plaistow, NH: Donald H. Sturtevant, 95, a resident of Plaistow since 1992, died December 22, 2021 at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA.
Born in Haverhill, son of the late Irving and Abigail (Calef) Sturtevant, he was raised in Haverhill and Lynn and graduated from Lynn Classical High School. A World War II veteran, he served as an Aviation Ordinanceman 3 rd Class in the U.S. Navy. He was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal and the American Area Medal, and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Mr. Sturtevant worked as a mechanical engineer in the sheet metal trade and was employed for most of his career at Metal Crafters of Wakefield, MA.
A twenty-year resident of Tewksbury, MA before moving to Plaistow in 1992, he was a member of the Tewksbury Rod and Gun Club and more recently a member of the Plaistow Fish and Game Club, where he built the club target shooting range. He also previously attended Grace Bible Church and Fellowship Bible Church.
Devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as his extended family of siblings, he enjoyed hunting, target shooting, playing pool and marble carving.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-two years, Barbara (Santos) Sturtevant, a son, Brian Lavallee and his wife, Lisa of Billerica, MA, three daughters, Elaine Borry and her husband, Peter of Nashua, Sheri Ann Bernard and her husband, Keith of Dunbarton, and Lisa M. Castine and her husband, Daniel of Plaistow, eight grandchildren, Jonah, Amy, Leah, Erin, Joshua, Anya, Noah and Caleb and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Bruce Sturtevant and John "Ted" Lavallee.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 10 – 11 AM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will follow at 11:15 AM in the funeral home and conclude with the rendering of military honors by the U.S. Navy. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Plaistow Fish and Game Club, May Ray Avenue, Plaistow, NH.
