Obituary


: Donald N. Langlais, 95, a longtime Haverhill resident and businessman, died Friday morning, December 23, 2011 at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center, surrounded by his loving family. He will join his beloved late wife "Jackie" for the Christmas holidays.

Born in Plaistow, NH, son of the late Elmer and Lillian (Miron) Langlais, he attended Saint JosephGrammar School and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1934. A U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Langlais served as an Aviation Ordnanceman and was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal and Philippine-Liberation Medal.

Following his discharge from the service, Mr. Langlais graduated from MerrimackCollege and received his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and also received his Masters Degree in Taxation from BentleyCollege. For most of his professional life, he served as the Treasurer of the L.H. Hamel Leather Co. retiring at the age of seventy.

Mr. Langlais was a resident of Sun City West, Arizona from 1986 until returning to the Haverhill area in 2007 and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Sun City West. He was presently a member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill. A former member of the Saint Vincent de-Paul Society, Mr. Langlais was one of the oldest surviving members of the original Saint Joseph Parish .

An avid skier and golfer, Mr. Langlais also enjoyed traveling with his late wife throughout this country and the world as member of the People to People Organization.

Mr. Langlais was predeceased thirteen months ago by his wife of sixty-six years, Jacqueline (Boucher) Langlais, and is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carole A. and Richard Sheehan of Haverhill, sons and daughters-in-law, Donald P. and Claire (St.Onge) Langlais of Haverhill and David B. and Lynda Langlais of Nashua, NH, six grandchildren and their spouses, Kelly J. (Langlais) and Christopher Nicolosi, Jessica A. (Sheehan) and Ryan Clancy, Stephanie E. (Sheehan) and Anthony Marino, Carolyn M. (Sheehan) Williams, Jonathan R. Sheehan, and Nicole Langlais, nine great-grandchildren, Jake and Brent Nicolosi, Nathaniel, Victoria, Benjamin and Isabella Clancy, Nicholas, Thomas and Zachary Marino, four sisters, Florence Hamilton of Amesbury, Priscilla Millette of Plaistow, Rita Bonin of Maryland, and Jacqueline Barlow of Rollinsford, NH, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Ellsworth Langlais, and Elmer Langlais, and sisters, Alice Bond, Beatrice Welcome, Alma Partello and Pauline Ross.

Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Saint JosephCemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Saint Joseph School of All Saints Parish, 56 Oak Terrace, Haverhill, MA.
