Atkinson, NH:  Donald P. Jackman, 89, of Atkinson, NH, died on March 31, 2018 at the Wingate at Haverhill in Haverhill, MA, after a long period of declining health.

Born May 10, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Thomas and Margaret (McKnight) Jackman.  He served for six years in the U. S. Army as a mechanic and was stationed in Germany during the post-war occupation.  He retired as an electrical engineer from Lucent Technologies, the former Western Electric Co. in North Andover, MA.

Don had a passion for skiing, and he was also an avid reader.  He loved music and sang in the church choir as a boy. He especially liked to dance and dine out with his wife.  His children have fond memories of their dad playing the harmonica while they danced around him, and they remember the small boat he built that they used on weekends at Lake Ossipee.  He also operated a ham radio for a number of years and enjoyed speaking with people all over the world.

Donald is survived by his loving and devoted wife of forty-five years, Harriet "Chris" Benoit Jackman, his children, Debra Gilman of Aurora, CO, Timothy Jackman and his wife, Lisa of Reno Nevada, John Jackman of Manchester, NH and Jeffrey Jackman and his wife, Heidi of Raymond, NH; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  He was pre-deceased by his children, Michael David Jackman, Janet Arlene Jackman, who died in infancy, and his siblings, Margaret DeStefano, Thomas Jackman, Veronica Becker and James Jackman.

Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, April 7, 2018, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.  His Funeral Service will follow at 1:30 PM in the funeral home followed by the rendering of military honors by the United States Army.
