Haverhill, MA: Donald B. Gallant, 88, of Haverhill died on March 9, 2014 at his daughter's home in Plaistow, NH.
Born in Nashua, NH and raised and educated in Haverhill, MA, son of the late Benoit and Mabel (Downey) Gallant, he attended the Haverhill Trade School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946.
Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Mr. Gallant worked for Honeywell Corporation of Lawrence, Sanders Associates of Nashua, NH, Computer Vision of Bedford, MA, Datametrica Corporation of Wilmington, GCA Corporation of Chelmsford, and finally AVCO System Division of Wilmington, from where he retired. As a young man he was employed in the local shoe industry.
He enjoyed playing cards, golf, gardening, and hunting.
He was predeceased by his wife, Viola (Gullo) Gallant, and is survived by his is daughter Donna Vizard and her fiancé Jeff Castle of Plaistow, NH, his brother, Raymond Gallant of Florida, a sister Lucille Seymour of Bradford, MA, two grandchildren, Stefanie Vizard and Stephen Vizard, and two great-grandchildren Arianna Moschetto and Delilah Rooney.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday, March 17, 2014 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will take place on Monday at 1:15 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Haverhill with military honors.
