Atkinson, NH: Donald R. Doughty, 88, a resident of Atkinson since 1968, died April 1, 2020 at Academy Manor in Andover, MA.
Born in Somerset, Bermuda, son of the late Eugene and Grace (McNicol) Doughty, he was educated in the local school system. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing waterpolo and racing sailing dinghies.
Mr. Doughty came to the United States to study at the Wentworth Institute in Boston and received his degree in Engineering. He was employed for many years at Process Engineering of Plaistow as an engineer and plant manager.
A resident of Atkinson for fifty-two years, he volunteered his time as a Webelo leader and enjoyed fishing and trips to Plum Island.
He is survived by his wife Wendy (Paul) Doughty, a daughter Elizabeth Carroll and her husband Robert of Atlanta, GA, two sons, Donald L. Doughty of Atkinson and James P. Doughty and his wife Amanda of Colorado Springs, CO, and four grandchildren, Meagan Doughty, Andrew Doughty, Alexander Carroll and Claudia Carroll.
Service will be private for family under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St, Plaistow. His cremated remains will be placed to rest in the family crypt in Bermuda later in the summer. To send a message of condolence to the family, please visit www.brooksidechapelfh.com .
