Obituary

With heart felt sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Donald E. Daggett, 90, of Haverhill, MA, a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, and a friend to many on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at D'Youville Center for Advance Therapy in Lowell, MA. He is survived by his beloved wife Jeannette M. (Lambert) Daggett, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.

He was born in Framingham, MA on May 26, 1933 and was the son of the late Alfred C. and Ethel M. (Gaskin) Daggett.  Donald moved to Haverhill as a young child with his parents and older brother Leroy "Lee" Daggett.

Donald graduated from Haverhill Trade School as a tool and die maker, class of 1951. During his high school career, he was very active in school clubs and sports. He played football for one year, basketball for three years and baseball for three years as a short stop and co-captain. He also belonged to the yearbook committee, sports rules and interpretations and the rod and gun club. After high school, he was an employee at Western Electric practicing his trade until he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1953 until 1956. Prior to his retirement of 37 years, he was promoted to supervisor of plant maintenance. During his employment, he donated blood to the American Red Cross. After his employment, he continued to be a long-time member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

He was a true outdoorsman.  He enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting with his sons and other family members. Otherwise, you would find him meticulously manicuring his lawn, hedges, bushes, and flower gardens. Donald was an avid sports fan. Playing baseball in his younger years and later coaching his sons' little league team, the Haverhill Twins. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and watching all of his New England sports teams on television.
