Obituary

Donald S. Brown, age 74, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at his home. He was the son of the late Carlos J. and Emma M. (Moore) Brown.

He was a graduate of Kennett High School in North Conway, NH, Class of 1967. Don was drafted into the United States Army, serving his country during the Vietnam war. He was immensely proud to have served and fought for his country, becoming a Sargent prior to being discharged. He was an M60 machine gunner before changing roles to be an RTO (Radio Telephone Operator) serving with distinction in the 1st Cavalry Division. Don also served with the Americal and First Infantry divisions.  After his military service Don was employed as a draftsman at Bell Labs and later as an engineer.  Don was a loving father, brother, uncle, son, and friend. He was an avid fan of all the New England/Boston sports teams, and of Arsenal Football Club. He was a big fan of boxing and of Muhammad Ali in particular. He enjoyed bowling and playing softball, soccer, and golf in work leagues with his Bell Labs coworkers. He enjoyed working on his brother Dennis' farm in Chocorua, which he frequently visited, enjoying time with his family.  Don loved vintage tractors, especially his brother Dennis' vintage Ford 8N.  He loved music, and among his favorites were The Doors, Cream, Yardbirds, and Jimi Hendrix.  He had so many interests and found joy in discussing anything, especially related to history, at length. He loved reading and enjoyed watching documentaries, particularly those made by Ken Burns.  He loved war films like Apocalypse Now, The Deer Hunter, Saving Private Ryan, and especially Band of Brothers.  Since childhood he was a fan the old The Twilight Zone and would enjoy watching the annual marathons. He developed a liking of Family Guy and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He laughed easily and heartily; his sense of humor was sharp and wry.   He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

Don is survived by his son Christopher Brown and his wife Ashley of Manchester, NH, his sister Debra of AZ, his brother Dennis and his wife Jan of Chocorua, NH, his niece Jennifer, nephew Scott, the mother of his son, and friend, Lisa Fish and many other friends and people who were blessed to know him.

His funeral service and interment will be held privately.
