Methuen, MA: Derek Adam Smith 30, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 19, 2022.
Born March 23,1991 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, son to Steve and Darlene (Baker) Smith. He earned his diploma from Shriver Job Corp and began his career in manufacturing. Derek was mechanically inclined and enjoyed his work. He had a knack for being able to put things together or take them apart. He worked at Red Thread for several years and most recently found a terrific position through Footbridge Companies in Andover, MA at Axcelis Technologies in Beverly, MA.
Derek was a true and natural athlete. He played soccer, basketball and baseball throughout his schooling and was a member of the Red Thread Softball Team. When he wasn't playing sports, he was watching sports. Despite his geographical location, he was a devout Yankees fan, but he also loved the New England sports teams. He enjoyed staying active and when he wasn't playing sports he could be found in the mountains, hiking with brother, Brett and anyone who would join him. Derek enjoyed trips to New Jersey to visit his Aunt and Uncle, George and Maureen Baker. Above all, spending time with his children, family and friends was most important.
Derek is survived by his three children, Kayden Deshaies-Smith, Jaxon Smith and Kalli Smith; Mother, Darlene "Dolly" Smith of Haverhill, MA and Partner, Phillip Kelly; his father, Steven and his wife, Darlene P. Smith of Fitchburg, MA; two brothers, Nicholas A. Smith of Manchester, NH and Brett A.
