Dennis "Big D" Lane, 72, of Atkinson and formerly of Kingston, Haverhill, and Lawrence, died peacefully on Saturday, May 1 at Brigham and Women's Hospital following complications from surgery.

Born in Lawrence, son of the late Bill and Rosemary (Eldredge) Lane, he was primarily raised in Haverhill and attended Central Catholic before graduating from St James High School in Haverhill.  He went on to earn his BS in Engineering from Lowell Tech in 1971.

Big D was a long time resident of Kingston, NH, where he built his family home.  He worked at Gillette for over 30 years in a variety of corporate functions including planning, project management, and logistics, before retiring at age 55.  He was a devoted family man who selflessly gave his all to those he loved.  Especially his beloved grandchildren to whom he happily devoted the majority of his time in retirement.  He was an active lover of life, especially outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, and golf.

He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by his large contingent of family and friends, including his wife Patricia Lane of Atkinson, NH, daughter and son-in-law Sue and Joey Meehan of Kingston, NH, son and daughter-in-law Brian and Mira Lane of Bellevue, WA, and his four grandchildren Aidan, Avery, Uma, and Laney.   He is pre-deceased by his parents Bill and Rosemary Lane of Haverhill MA, and his brother Tim Lane of Salem, NH.  He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Mike and Linda Lane of Oswego, NY, his sister Barbara Lane of Rice, WA, his brother and sister-in-law Pat and Linda Lane of Moultonborough NH, his sister and brother-in-law Peg and Brian Sansoucie of Haverhill, MA, and his brother and sister-in-law Sean and Cathy Lane of Plaistow, NH.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for late July. Arrangements are under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.
