Atkinson – Denise Murrey, 85, died Friday February 10, 2023 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital, following a period of failing health.

Born April 20, 1937, in Richmond Hill, NY she was the daughter of the late Paul and Florence Greger Jaworowski.

Mrs. Murrey had worked as a social worker for many years for the Lawrence Division of Social Services.

Denise loved animals and was also very active in the 1970's with the Atkinson Conservation Commission.

Members of her family include her husband of 40 years John R. Murrey of Atkinson, NH; her children Brent Watkins and wife Joan Suleski of Kodiak AK; Scott Watkins and wife Maria of Atkinson, NH; Derek Watkins and fiancé Terri Gulezian of Raymond, NH; Jonathan Murrey of Plaistow, NH; her step children  Debbie Taylor, Cindy White, Mary-Beth Green, Robin LaComb, John Murrey Jr., Patty Hutchinson, George Murrey, her grandchildren Travis Watkins, Greg Keener, Paige Padellaro, Blake Watkins, Chase Watkins, Zachary Watkins, Calista Watkins and Donnie Watkins, great grandchildren, as well as twelve step grandchildren, Jennifer Moquin, Nicole May, Matthew Taylor, Windee Lightizer, Sarah Follansbee, Ryan Nation, John Murrey III, Nicholas Murrey, Elizabeth Green, Tyler Murrey, Jay Murrey, Faith Murrey. and seventeen step great grandchildren, Nikolas Moquin, Anissa May, Andrea Mendozza, Cameron Moquin, Daniel May, Matthew May, Michael Hutchinson, Nickolas Murrey, Brielle Murrey, Ava Murrey, Hailey Taylor, Connor Taylor, Leeann Lightizer, John Murrey IV, Caiden Hujsak, Owen Nation and Evelyn Nation, her four sisters Wanda Colyer and husband Rick of Schoharie, NY; Joan Giordano and husband Skip of Ridgefield, CT; Eve Jaworoski and her fiancé Ray of Lord's Valley PA; Ellie Murray of Las Vegas, NV; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 4-7pm at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street Plaistow NH. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Denise's memory to the Atkinson Conservation Commission.
