Smith
May 10, 1932 – December 26, 2021
Hampstead: David R. Smith, 89, a resident of Hampstead for the last forty years, died on December 26, 2021, at his brother's home in Nottingham.
Born in Wakefield, Massachusetts, son of the late Clayton S. and Pauline D. (Tabor) Smith, he was raised in Reading and North Andover before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1952. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served honorably as an Airman First Class until his discharge in 1956.
Mr. Smith worked as a shipper and receiver for Western Electric Co, AT& T Technologies and Lucent Technologies for thirty years until his retirement and was a member of the Communication Workers of America, Local #1365.
Mr. Smith enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle and poker. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, and spending time at his camp in Byron, Maine.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon B. and Bethany Smith of Lebanon, NH and Lawrence R. and Sandra Smith of Nottingham, NH, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service to be held on Friday, December 31, 2021, at 11 a.m. in West Parish Cemetery, Andover, MA. Military honors will be rendered by members of the U.S. Air Force at the conclusion of services. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Rockingham VNA and Hospice, 137 Epping Road, Exeter, NH.
