David J. Murphy, 76, of Hampstead, NH, passed on December 15, 2018 at Exeter Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Lafayette, IN, the son of the late John and Martha (Brown) Murphy, he attended St. Bernard's Seminary, Pittsford, NY and Cathedral High School, Syracuse, NY. He worked as a Salesman for J M Murphy and Company and was a member of St. Anne's Church, Hampstead, NH, where he taught CCD and served on the Parish Council and as an Eucharist Minister.
David enjoyed history and visiting historical sights, playing golf and coaching. He was also an avid sports fan of the Red Sox and Patriots and was a big fan of Boston Bruins legend, Bobby Orr.
The widower of the late Kathryn "Kay" (Bowman) Murphy, who died January 16, 2016, David will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three sons and daughters-in-law, David II and Daniela Murphy of Hampstead, NH, Sean P. and Mary Kate Murphy of Hampstead, NH and Matthew P. and Andrea Murphy of Ayer, MA; daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Patrick McAniff of Epping, NH; brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Diane Murphy of Punta Gorda, FL, Jack and Judy Murphy of Pompey, NY, and Robert and Betsy Murphy of Silverdale, WA; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Myers of Hampton, NH, Patricia Murphy of Piedmont, AL and Kathrine and John Ankiewicz of Amesbury, MA; nine grandchildren, MacKenzie, Abigail, Maelie, Malaney, Izzy, Michael, Tess, Ronan and Connor.
He was pre-deceased by an infant daughter, Sheila and a brother, Arthur Murphy who died in 1997.
Relatives and friends may attend David's Life Celebration to be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018, from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St. (Route 121A), Plaistow, NH. His funeral will begin on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 8:45 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10 AM in St. Anne's Church, 26 Emerson Ave, Hampstead, NH. Burial will follow in West Hampstead Cemetery.
