Salem, NH: David B. McLaughlin, 80, a resident of Salem for the last twelve years, died peacefully at his home on April 8, 202, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised and educated in Arlington, he was the son of the late William and Marge (McLeod) McLaughlin and graduated Arlington High School with the Class of 1958. Mr. McLaughlin served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 until 1962, and was stationed in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. McLaughlin was employed as a machinist at General Electric Co, and retired with thirty years of service as a member of the I.U.E. #201.
A former resident of Bradford, he also lived in Plaistow from 1997 until moving to Salem in 2008. He was a member of Saint Anne's Parish of Hampstead and the Wednesday morning Golf League at Bradford Country Club. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was longtime winter resident of Arcadia, Florida, and a fan of all New England sports teams. He also enjoyed traveling, especially cruises and cross county tours.
Predeceased in 1997 by his loving wife, Barbara (Mogavero) McLaughlin, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a daughter Kimberly Michitson and her husband George of Bradford, two sons, David B. McLaughlin,Jr. and his wife Tara of Danville, and James G. McLaughlin and his wife Stacy of Agawam, MA, two brothers, William McLaughlin,Jr. of Billerica, MA, and Dennis McLaughlin of New Mexico, a sister Joan Ward of Prosperity, SC, grandchildren Allyson Michitson, Eric Michitson, Kaleigh McLaughlin, Brenna McLaughlin, Kaitlynn Woodcook and her husband Tyler, and Gregory McLaughlin, as well as his longtime, loving companion Barbara Bland and her family, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Gerald McLaughlin.
A private graveside service for family will take place under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home of Plaistow.
