Obituary

Plaistow, NH: David W. Codding, 80, formerly of Plaistow, East Hampstead, and Sandown, died October 25, 2018 at Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont.
Born in Athol, Massachusetts, son of the late George and Doris (Dillant) Codding, he was raised and educated in Marlow NH and Gardner, MA and graduated from Keene (NH) High School. He served in the National Guard, and was a manager in retail trade, employed at the former Giant Stores and Bradlees Department Stores. He also worked at A.T.&T. Technologies and finally retired from Foss Manufacturing as a machine operator.
A longtime member of the former Mary, Mother of the Church Parish of Newton, where he established the parish food pantry, and Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a longtime volunteer for Girl Scouts Troop 789.
Mr. Codding was an avid Red Sox fan, who also enjoyed fly-fishing and fly-tying, camping and playing cribbage. In his later years he enjoyed watching old Western movies and television shows but most importantly spending time with his grandchildren.
Predeceased by his wife Elaine M. (Simpson) Codding in 2005, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Robert Fitzgerald of Plaistow and their three children Kasey, John and Aubrey Fitzgerald, a sister Georgianna McDougle and her husband Stephen of Las Cruces, NM, a sister-in-law Carolyn Codding of Nottingham, NH three nephews and two nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, Lyman and Kenneth Codding.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend David's Life Celebration to be held on Tuesday evening October 30, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. His funeral will begin on Wednesday morning at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Mary Mother of the Church of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, Amesbury Road, Newton NH.
