Obituary

Methuen: Constance D. "Connie" Mercier, 89, a resident of Methuen for the past thirty years, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen.

Born in Haverhill, daughter of the late William J. and Marie A. (Bernard) Mercier, she was raised in Plaistow, NH. She attended the Pollard School and graduated from Haverhill High School.

Connie was employed as the Supervisor of the Payroll Department at Western Electric Co and AT& T Technologies retiring in 1985 after thirty years of service. At the time of her promotion she was the first woman to be named a supervisor at Western Electric.

A longtime member of Saint Lucy's Parish of Methuen, Connie was the parish soloist, for weddings, funerals and weekend Masses for many years. She was also a member of the Italian Serenaders. An accomplished artist in oils, she enjoyed traveling across the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. In addition, she volunteered as a computer teacher at Merrimack Valley Elder Services.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her brother, Norman Mercier, a nephew, Stephen Mercier and his wife Andrea of Gray Court, SC, two nieces, Kathryn Mscisz and her husband Steve of Gloucester and Norma Phaneuf and her husband Peter of Haverhill, great nieces and nephews, Alexandra Ange, Christopher Mscisz, Jennifer Mscisz, and Michael Phaneuf, and a great grand-niece Mary Marie Mscisz. Connie was predeceased by her sister-in-law Marie (D'Amico) Mercier, a nephew William Mercier, a great niece Danielle Ange, and her longtime companion Edward Boyle as well as many extended family members and countless numbers of friends that she made through work and her other activities in the Methuen area including her community, her parish, the Italian Serenaders and Greater Haverhill Art Association.

A Funeral Mass for Connie will take place on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Lucy's Church, 254 Merrimack St., Methuen, MA with burial following in Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow, NH.  Arrangements are under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home of Plaistow, NH. The family requests that memorial donations be made to:  the Alzheimers Association of Massachusetts, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA.
