Atkinson, NH: Claudette (Arcand) Orio, 87, a resident of Atkinson since 1978, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 27, 2021, surrounded by her loving and devoted family.
Born in New Britain, Connecticut, daughter of the late Andre and Noelya (Laravee) Arcand, she was raised and educated in Durham, CT. She graduated from the Saint Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Waterbury. Licensed as a Registered Nurse, Mrs. Orio worked at the Uncas-On-Thames Tuberculosis Hospital in Norwich CT, and later at Ince Hospital at Twentynine Palms, CA. She also worked at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA and at the former Hale Hospital in Haverhill, before retiring from nursing. She later worked at the So-Fro Fabric Store at West Gate Center in Haverhill.
A longtime member of Saint Anne's Parish of Hampstead, Mrs. Orio played the piano and was partial to classical music, especially pieces by Chopin. She also was accomplished at sewing, quilting and gardening and enjoyed hiking.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of sixty-four years, Carl D. Orio, three sons, Martin J. Orio and his wife, Andrea of Medfield, MA, Matthew A. Orio of Sandown, and Nicholas D. Orio and his wife, Shirley of Atkinson, three daughters, Anne L. Orio of Manchester, NH, Diona M. Roberg of North Hampton, NH, and Christina C. Orio of Hampstead, NH, thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her five brothers.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday morning, December 2, 2021, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne's Church, 26 Emerson Avenue, Hampstead, NH. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, CT, from 10 to 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Saint John's Cemetery in Middletown, CT.
