Obituary

Christopher R. Rand, age 63, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. He was the beloved husband of Karen (Gagnon) Rand with whom he shared 43 years of marriage.

He was born in Stoneham, MA on January 21, 1961 and was the son of Neal and Carolann (Gravelle) Rand.

Chris grew up in Burlington, MA, but made his home in Newton, NH. He was a graduate of Burlington High School, Class of 1979. Chris was a proud brother and member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 4. In his life he was a funny, quick-witted guy who always enjoyed a good joke. Chris's hobbies included golf, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, and traveling. He most especially loved Vermont and Florida. Chris spent his downtime hanging out in his garage with a cold Bud Light and good company. He had a passion for Ford trucks. Chris was generous, outgoing, kind, and was always there to listen to a friend. He enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. He was a positive person and maintained that outlook even after his cancer diagnosis.  Above all he loved his family. Chris adored his grandchildren and was always planning some exciting adventure for them. He took pride in everything he did, he was a very special man.

Besides his wife and his parents, he is survived by his children Adam C. Rand of Danvers, MA, and Jennifer J. Kennedy and her husband Patrick of Raymond, NH., his grandchildren, Melanie Rand, Jonathan Rand, Michael Rand, Jack Kennedy, Benjamin Kennedy and Owen Kennedy, his siblings Lynda Smith and her husband James of Cranberry Township, PA., and Kathy Rand of Bedford, NH. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews, Erin Smith of PA., Ryan Sunderland of Billerica, MA., and Graham Hughes of Medford, MA.

He was sadly predeceased by his son Erik W. Rand.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 4pm – 7pm at the Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main St. Plaistow, NH. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 am in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be held privately.
