Obituary

Newton, NH: Christine "Teenie" (Colby) Foy, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020 at the Residence at Salem Woods from complications of the COVID19 virus, at the age of 99.

Born April 25, 1921 in Newton NH to the late Glenroy and Doris (Thornell) Colby, Teenie was predeceased by her husband of sixty-five years, John E. Foy in 2005.

Teenie was a lifelong resident of Newton NH, growing up in her ancestral home at Rowe's Corner.  She attended grammar school in Newton and graduated in 1939 from Sanborn Seminary in Kingston NH. She was an excellent student with a sharp mind that she kept right to the end. She was her class Salutatorian and based her speech, "The World of Tomorrow", on the 1939 World's Fair.

In 1941 she and her husband bought their sweet house on Maple Avenue in Newton. She enjoyed her screened porch where she could listen to the birds and admire the peonies, lilacs, honeysuckle and her beloved rhododendrons. She enjoyed long drives through the White Mountains of New Hampshire with family and was known to be adventurous and independent at times, including an impromptu drive to Canada with her then teenage sons.

She leaves behind three sons and their spouses, John and Donna Foy of Newton NH, James and Sandra Foy of Kingston NH and Peter and Denise Foy of Newton NH; seven grandchildren and their spouses: Michael and Sara Foy, Jeffrey and Melissa Foy, Scott and Stephanie Foy, James and Jodi (Foy) Donahue, Stephen and Jaqueline Foy, Christopher and Briana (Foy) Iani and Tristan and Marissa (Foy) Adams; and fourteen great- grandchildren: Katherine, Lauren, Allison, Jessica, Nicholas, Matthew, Jacob, Janie, Conor, Teagan, Ryleigh, Finley, Austin and Emma.

Teenie also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and three sisters, Leah LeRoy, Vera Foy and Virginia Bunker.

The Foy family would like to thank the staff of the Residence at Salem Woods for caring for Teenie for the past seventeen months. Also thanks to Meals on Wheels who came to Maple Ave with meals five days a week for many years prior to her move to assisted living.

Funeral services and burial will be private at a later date under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home of Plaistow.
