Hampstead, NH: Cheryl F. (Bright) Follien, 75, a resident of Hampstead for the last thirty-seven years, died peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Parkland Hospital in Derry, NH, surrounded by her loving and devoted family.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Cheryl was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Mansfield) Bright. She was raised and educated in Framingham, attending local schools and graduated Framingham North High School with the Class of 1965. She went on to be certified as a Laboratory Technician and was employed for several years at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA.
Cheryl later began her career in social work at LifeLinks, Inc. in Lowell, MA. She eventually became a program director and served in that capacity until her retirement.
A woman of strong faith, Cheryl was an active member of Saint Anne Parish of Hampstead, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan. She was a former member of the Parish Council and was active with the parish R.C.I.A program and the Baptismal Preparation Program.
Cheryl was known to her family and friends as a kind and gentle woman, skilled at managing people and programs with great care. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who excelled at creating a warm and loving home for her family. She was an accomplished seamstress, and delighted in creating dresses and outfits for her two daughters throughout their childhood. She cherished family gatherings that offered great food and stories and treated her children and later her grandchildren to a variety of festivities that made for joyful memories.
Cheryl will be missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Kenneth J. Follien, who together marked fifty-one years of marriage on the day of her death. She is also cherished and missed by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwendolyn E. and Brian Sippel of Chester and Rachel M. and Brian Kennedy of Guthrie, OK, a sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Victor Underwood of Leicester, MA, eight grandchildren, Hannah, Isabella, Charlotte, Josephine, Susanna, Jude, Jonathan, and Anders, three nephews and a niece, and other extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her sister Judith Bright.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Life Celebration to be held on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, Emerson Avenue, Hampstead. Burial will follow in West Hampstead Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Maryknoll Missionaries, c/o Maryknoll Society Center, 55 Ryder Rd.
