Atkinson, NH: Charles R. "Chuck" Kershaw, Jr., 72, a resident of Atkinson since 1999, and formerly of Plaistow and Haverhill, died Monday, November 26, 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, following a long illness.

Born in Haverhill, son of the late Charles R. and Carlotta (Bachini) Kershaw and stepson of the late Eva Kershaw, he attended Haverhill Public Schools and was a member of the Lawrence Central Catholic High School Class of 1964. He attended Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall Prep School and the University of Connecticut, where he played basketball and was a member of the Lambda Chi Fraternity.

Mr. Kershaw was employed for many years as a manager at the former Haverhill Paperboard/ Continental Can and later at Recycled Paperboard in Clifton, NJ, from 1990 until his retirement in 1999.

A fan of all Boston sports teams, he enjoyed playing softball and playing golf as a member of the Haverhill Country Club. For many years he was a co-owner of several race horses and thoroughly enjoyed the 'sport of kings". He was also a basketball referee for Haverhill Youth Basketball and Haverhill PAL Basketball.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of forty-six years, Donna (Pierce) Kershaw, a sister Sylvia Cosio of Atkinson, two brothers, Richard Kershaw of Freedom, ME and James Kershaw of Haverhill, a brother-in-law, four sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Life Celebration to be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main ST., Route 121A, Plaistow. His funeral will be held on Friday morning at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will take place in Atkinson Cemetery in the spring.
