Bradford: Charles R. Bouchard,Jr., 93, a former longtime resident of Bradford, died Friday, December 7, 2018 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, surrounded by his loving family.
Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, son of the late Charles R. and Ann L. (Proulx) Bouchard, he was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1943.
Mr. Bouchard was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II, serving as a Private First Class in Co B of the 112th Medical Battalion and was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, with Bronze Service Arrowhead, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Service Star and the W.W. II Victory Medal.
Following his honorable discharge from the service, he attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and was later employed for thirty-three years by the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and clerk in Boston, Springfield, Bradford and Haverhill, and retired in 1981 as a Supervisor in the Haverhill office.
A longtime member of Sacred Hearts Parish in Bradford, Mr. Bouchard was devoted to his wife and his family and enjoyed spending time with them for all holidays and special celebrations. A loyal Red Sox fan, he also enjoyed gardening, canning, Candlepin bowling and pitching horseshoes and trips to Ireland.
Predeceased in 2005 by Ann E. (McNamara) Bouchard, his beloved wife of fifty-five years, he was also predeceased by sons, Stephen G. Bouchard in 2011 and James M. Bouchard in 2018. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin P. and Mercedes Bouchard of Spring Valley, CA, Philip J. and Kristin Bouchard of Deering, NH, and David J. and Tamela Bouchard of Danville, NH, daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne M. and Gary Morrison of Acton, ME and Ann Eleanor and Thomas DiPasquale of Derry, NH, a sister Claire Vachon of Haverhill, a daughter-in-law Ranae Bouchard of Rio Rancho, NM, thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Mr. Bouchard's calling hours and Life Celebration to be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. His funeral will begin on Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Hearts Church, South Main St., Bradford.
