Obituary

Haverhill: Cecile T. (Lagasse) DiPirro, 92 of Haverhill, passed away peacefully at her home on August 25, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Cecile was born in Haverhill on May 15, 1924, daughter of the late Henry and Alma (Rheaume) Lagasse, and was educated at Saint Joseph Grammar School and Haverhill High School. She was the beloved wife of Anthony "Tony" DiPirro for fifty-nine years until his death on December 5, 2005.

A resident of Haverhill for all of her life, she was a faithful communicant of All Saints Parish and the former Saint Joseph Parish. As a young woman, she worked as a stitcher for Eastern Canvas and Lagasse Furniture Company, a family owned business. For many years, she and her late husband owned and operated Tony's Used Auto Parts in Haverhill, which is now operated by their son Thomas.

Her family will remember her amazing resilience, her never ending sense of humor and loving pride in each member of her family. She enjoyed telling friends, new and old, just how lucky she was. Cecile had a talent for reaching out to people and enjoying them just the way they were.

She is survived by three children and their spouses, Patricia Finlay-Hamilton and Bob Hamilton of Groton, Maria and City Councilor Bill Macek of Haverhill, and Tom and Nancy DiPirro of Plaistow, NH, six grandchildren James and Kimberly Finlay of Pennsylvania, Kathryn Finlay and Amy Zimmerman of California, Daniel and Amber Macek of Vermont, Nicholas Macek of California, Andrea and Nicholas Blei of Belmont and Anthony J. DiPirro and Jesse Hale of Boston, Step grandchildren Scott and Jen Hamilton of Douglas, and Jess and Casey Hamilton of NH, ten great-grandchildren, Regan, Henry, Greyson, Haleigh, Ashton, Caleb, Bethany, Sarah, Lily and Emma, two brothers, Gene Lagasse of Atkinson, NH and Fred Lagasse of Newmarket, NH and several nieces and nephews.
