Catherine M. (LeBlanc) Sarfde, 87, died on May 24, 2012 at Merrimack Valley Hospital after being stricken ill at her home.



Born in Haverhill, daughter of the late Mitchell and Elizabeth (Saulnier) LeBlanc, she was raised and educated in Haverhill graduating in 1944 from Haverhill High School.She later attended MacIntosh Business School.



Throughout her career Mrs. Sarfde worked as a Secretary for Snyder Leather Co., Children's Hospital, Chaucer Leather, Babson Financial and Avco Corp.



She was a member of Sacred Hearts Parish, the Haverhill Historical Society, the Haverhill Citizens Center and the Haverhill Garden Club where she was also a past president.



Mrs. Sarfde was an avid reader and gardener.She also enjoyed doing ceramics, line dancing, upholstering, chair caning, baking, cooking and traveling all over the U.S. and the world.



She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years Fred Sarfde; one son David F. Sarfde and his wife Karen of Bradford; four daughters Susan A. Briggs and her fianc� Charles Graves of Bradford, Lisa D. Sarfde of Bradford, Karen J. Brighi and her husband Stephen of Bradford, and Laura A. Durso and her husband Michael of Methuen; one sister Ann Currier of Apollo Beach, FL; one brother Wilfred J. "Frenchy" LeBlanc of Amesbury; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her brother Dennis LeBlanc and three sisters Margaret LeBlanc, Hazel Currier and Alma Jones.



Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 11:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA.Her funeral service will follow at 2:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
