Obituary

Naples, Florida: Catherine A. "Kay" (Lefebvre) (Mitchell) Chapman, 103, a longtime resident of Florida and formerly of North Andover, and Bradford, Massachusetts, died peacefully, July 12, 2023 at Vitas Hospice IPU, Naples, Florida, surrounded by her loving and caring family.

Raised and educated in North Andover, daughter of the late Hector and Agnes (Carney) Lefebvre, she graduated from the former Johnson High School.

Living for many years in the Bradford section of Haverhill, Kay began her working career as the personal secretary for Buddy Hartman, Harold Gould, and Howard Glazer at Hartman Shoe Co. of Haverhill. Later, after taking courses at Northern Essex Community College, she became the Executive Assistant to the Dean of Administration at the college.

As a young woman, Kay had a great appreciation for music and was an accomplished pianist. She also enjoyed roller skating at Skateland in Bradford. Artistically talented, she was well known to family and friends for her many seascapes and landscapes in oils. She was a student of several well-known local artists and was a member of the Greater Haverhill Arts and Crafts Association and the Newburyport Arts Association.

She was predeceased in 1965 by her first husband Donald E. Mitchell, and after tolerating the harsh New England weather for several more years, moved to Boynton Beach , Florida, and began the second chapter of her life. She met and married her second husband. William R. Chapman in 1981 and together they enjoyed sixteen years of marriage until his death in 1997.

She leaves behind her children, and other family members, although sad at the loss are celebrating the wonderful and loving woman that she was and the productive life that she has had for many many years. She is survived by a daughter Donna Moolic, wife of the late Thomas Moolic, a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Richard Torossian, two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Vicki Mitchell, and Michael and Lisa Mitchell, a stepson, John Chapman and his wife Eileen, a daughter-in- law, Debby Sequin Mitchell, of Mexico; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her son, Robert Kerry Mitchell, her grand-daughter, Lisa Moolic Knight, her sisters, Bernice Summers and Frances Wingbermuehle, and a brother Robert Lefebvre.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend KAY'S Life Celebration to be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 12p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow. Her service will begin at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. and will be followed by burial in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
