Derry, NH: Catherine J. "Cathy" White, 69, a longtime resident of Derry and formerly of Newton, NH, died Sunday November 12, 2023, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Norman White and Barbara (Gould) (White) Preston, Cathy was a 1972 graduate of Sanborn Regional High School. Following graduation, she enlisted in the U. S. Army and served as a Medic until 1976.

After her honorable discharge, Cathy graduated from the nursing program at Northern Essex Community College working first as an LPN and later was licensed as a Registered Nurse. She was employed for most of her career as an Emergency Room Nurse at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.

She enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, painting in watercolors and spending quality time with her family and friends, especially her great nephew and nieces Mac and Molly Chaisson, and Leeann Lightizer.

Cathy is survived by a brother Kevin White of Ocala, Florida, a sister and brother-in-law Kelly and Bill Lightizer of Newton, her dearest friend Justine Kurek, and sisters Caren Martin and Mary Beth Chapman; many nieces and nephews great nephew and nieces, cousins and close friends.

She was predeceased by her brother Steven White, a nephew, Michael Lightizer, a niece, Jessica B. White and sister-in-law Lynne White.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow. Her funeral service will follow at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will take place in Highland Cemetery, Newton, at a later date.
