Obituary

Kingston, NH: William E. "Bill" McManus, 73, passed away October 13, 2018, peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born June 16, 1945 in Pensacola, FL, the eldest son of Edward and Marguerite (Boivin) McManus, who were blessed with five children.

Bill graduated in 1964 from Avon High School, Avon, MA. He then attended Northeastern University, studying Civil Engineering before he found his true passion, which was in building.  He started his construction career as a union mason.  He quickly moved through his apprenticeship and ultimately moved up to become a Superintendent on several large projects.  He was a Project Manager, Estimator and then a Chief Estimator for a large Massachusetts based company before he retired.  Throughout his career Bill also owned and/or was partnered in several businesses.  His most enjoyable was Cascade Construction (Plaistow, NH) which he and his two sons partnered in for almost ten years together.  Upon retiring, Bill took a position as a concrete inspector to ensure that he could stay on a construction site,  a placed he truly loved to be. He enjoyed working and was a hard working, meticulous man.

Bill was a quiet, loving man, who cherished spending his time with family and friends, coaching his boys' hockey teams and skiing with his two sons.  Bill also enjoyed fishing, sailing,  gardening, travelling and doing home improvements.  When his youngest son graduated high school, Bill took a year to travel the USA, down the east coast, across the south to the southwest and ending up in Washington State.  He had also sailed up and down the east coast. Bill and Sara camped down the east coast to Memphis, Tennessee to see the resting place of their favorite musician Elvis. Together they also enjoyed cruises to the Caribbean and even Alaska.  Bill was someone who would be there to help if you needed something.  He will be greatly missed by both his family and his friends.

Bill is survived by his wife Sara (Smith) McManus, who he truly adored, and his beloved Shih Tzu Presley.  His son Kyle and his wife Janette and their children Dylan and Madison of Kingston, NH, granddaughter Morgan McManus of Haverhill, MA, and grandson Matthew McLaughlin of Park City, UT, sister Patricia Nordahl and her husband Fred of Savannah, GA, sister Maureen Carriker and her husband Neal of Gloucester, MA, sister Karen McManus and her significant other Bruce Whiteley of Dover, NH,  and several nieces and nephews.
