Sawyer

East Hampstead – Betty Jean Sawyer, 90, passed away Saturday March 9, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family, following a period of declining health. Born May 18, 1933, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Mabel (LaFromboise) Bishop.
Betty was raised in Michigan and attended Wayne State University. She met and married her husband, Charles E. Sawyer in Michigan, later moving to New York, where she and Chuck raised their three young daughters. They settled in Plaistow, NH, in 1973, and in 1998, Betty moved to East Hampstead, NH.
Betty had a long career in office administration. She was the Office Manager for many years for the National Center for State Courts and later for Silverman Associates. In her spare time, she enjoyed wood carving, painting, bowling, Keno, Bingo at the Plaistow Fish & Game Club, and always enjoyed trips to the casino. She was a member of the Plaistow Lioness Club and The Red Hatters' Society.
As a long-time parishioner of Holy Angels Church, Betty was a member of the Women's Guild and a Eucharistic Minister, serving at Mass and to the homebound. She enjoyed spending time with her family, including trips back to Michigan, and especially celebration dinners with family for holidays and birthdays. For the past eight years, Betty attended The Rock Church of Plaistow, NH.
Members of Betty's family include daughter Rene Beaulieu and her husband Peter of Plaistow, NH; daughter Noel Burgoa and her husband Ernie of East Hampstead, NH; and daughter Michele Keefe and her husband John of Wilmington, MA; grandson Brian and his wife Katherine; granddaughter Catherine and her husband Daniel; granddaughter Nicole and her husband Joshua; grandson Dylan; granddaugher Priscilla and her husband Ivan; and granddaughter Hanah and husband Angel; her great grandchildren Christian, Reagan, Madelyn, Alexander, and Sarah; sister Patricia Gordon and her husband James; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her husband of 23 years, Charles E. "Chuck" Sawyer, and two siblings James Bishop and Dolores VanKirk of Michigan.
Family and friends are welcome to visit Saturday March 16, 2024, from 10 AM – 11 AM at the Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. A celebration of Betty's life will follow at 11:15 AM in the chapel of the funeral home, followed by a reception downstairs.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amedysis or the American Heart Association.
