Obituary

Bernice B. Antoniewicz, born on July 16, 1920 in Haverhill, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, at the age of 104. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Aunt, Great Aunt and friend, Bernice lived a life filled with kindness, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Bernice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John J. Antoniewicz, her parents Kasper Wyka and Katherine Drelich, her siblings, Mary Wyka, Sophie Wyka and Annie Carrozza, her son John Antoniewicz and daughter Christine Mackey. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Boksanski, six grandchildren Paul Boksanski and his wife Janelle, John Antoniewicz and his wife Jennifer, Stephanie Dandeneau and her husband Bob, Geoff Mackey and his wife Erin, Catherine Boksanski and partner Charles Vallis and Ashleigh Mackay. Her six great[1]grandchildren, Samantha Boksanski, Jack Dandeneau, JJ and Colton Antoniewicz, and Ella and Chip Boksanski-Vallis and countless nieces, nephews and friends who cherished her dearly.

Bernice was born, raised and lived her entire 104 years in Haverhill, MA. She lived in a time of great change in the world, witnessing the rise of modern inventions, the trials of the Great Depression, and the unity forged in World War II. Bernice worked in the Haverhill shoe factory's earning the nick name "Speedy Alka Seltzer" for her piece work efforts. She was a proud member of the Polish American Veterans Julian Stopyra Post Auxiliary for many years and truly loved her polish food and polka music, especially heading to Hampton Beach to hear the Eastern Sound play every summer. Bernice was a devout, long-standing member of the former St. Michael's Parish in Haverhill, MA.

Through it all, she carried a grace and wisdom that inspired everyone around her. Her family would like to express their gratitude to Harborside Hospice and the numerous caregivers and staff at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center for their compassionate care during the last nine years. Bernice Antoniewicz (Babci) leaves behind a legacy of love, caring for family, and laughter, to the countless lives she touched. She will be forever missed but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, February 24, 2025 from 4pm-7pm at the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home 116 Main St. Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin at the funeral home at 9am on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am at All Saints Parish Haverhill, MA. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in her memory of Bernice Antoniewicz to: The Hannah Duston Healthcare Center Resident Activities Fund, 126 Monument Street Haverhill, MA 01830.
