Haverhill, MA: Beatrice E. "Ellie" (LaVoie) Johnson, 50, a resident of Haverhill since 2005 and a former resident of Stoneham, died on February 18, 2014 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill after a long illness.
Born in Winthrop and raised and educated in East Boston, daughter of the late Albert and Helen E. (Goodrich) LaVoie, she graduated from East Boston High School in 1988. She went on to attend Bunker Hill Community College.
Mrs. Johnson worked as a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service at Boston Logan International Airport and as a driver for Central Wheelchair Company for many years.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Mrs. Johnson often volunteered at her children's school. She enjoyed wood carving and jigsaw puzzles, as well, as the outdoors and camping. She was an avid NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed trips to New Hampshire International Speedway, Loudon.
She is survived by her husband Rickie D. "Rick" Johnson, three sons, Rickie D. Johnson, Jr. and his wife Beth of Lawrence, Nathan A. Johnson of Haverhill, and Michael C. Johnson and his wife Samantha of Haverhill, a daughter LisaEllen C. Eldridge of Merrimack, NH, a daughter-in-law Jessica Johnson of Derry, NH, three brothers, Albert D. LaVoie, Jr. of Virginia, Clifford L. LaVoie of Winthrop, and Timothy LaVoie of Chelsea, ten grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Nuziato.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA.
