Haverhill, MA: Barbara A. Zagurski, 72, of Haverhill, MA, died on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, surrounded by her family.
Born in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Alice (Tracz) Zagurski. Barbara grew up in Chicago and was a graduate of Madonna High School, Class of 1965. She moved to East Boston, MA in 1973, then spent twenty-two years as a resident of Lynn, MA, before moving back to Chicago briefly, then settling in Haverhill for the past twelve years.
Over the years she was employed by the Hilltop Steak House, worked as a home health aide for a VNA and Home Instead Senior Care in Chicago & North Andover and as a patient care assistant for the Northeast Arc.
Barbara enjoyed the outdoors and sharing her love for the outdoors with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed hunting and bird watching. She also enjoyed music and was passionate about politics. She had an artistic side that she liked to express through drawing and painting. Many of her experiences were at the foundation of her spirituality that we are all connected to something bigger than ourselves. She dedicated much of her life to helping others which brought her great joy. However, the time she spent with her family brought her the greatest joy of all.
Barbara will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Michelle Palumbo and her significant other, Stephen Toavaga of Haverhill, MA, Dawn Buono and her late husband Michael of Methuen, MA, son, Kevin Palumbo and his wife Kristen of Lynnfield, MA, brother, Bruce Zagurski of Chicago, IL, grandchildren, Daniel, Elizabeth, Valerie, Sabrina, Tyler, Emily, Chloe, Haylie, and Bruno. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Zagurski, and former husband, Edward Palumbo.
Barbara wishes to spend eternity amongst nature. Her family will honor her wishes in the place she loved most, sweet home Chicago at a later date.
