Plaistow, NH: Barbara L. (Hamel) (Nicosia) Vietor, 83, a resident of Plaistow since 2016 and formerly of Lawrence and Haverhill, Massachusetts, died peacefully at  the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Jay Holt, on September 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born, raised, and educated in Haverhill, Barbara was the daughter of the late William and Beatrice (Basiliere) Hamel. Her first job was working as a waitress at Mark's Deli in Haverhill. She later moved to Lawrence with her children and was a member of Saint Patrick's Parish in South Lawrence. She was employed as the bar manager at Bob White's Town Line restaurant on the Lawrence and North Andover line and later as a waitress when the business was sold and renamed Jilly's Restaurant. In 1987 Barbara opened an Italian Restaurant in Lawrence with her late husband "Nicky" Nicosia. Located in the old train station it was named Station B&N.

Barbara worked hard to provide for her children and created a warm and loving home for them. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and the occasional trip to the beach.

Predeceased in 1991 by her husband, Franklin D. "Nicky" Nicosia, and in 2015 by her husband, Frederick Vietor, and by her son Mark J. Nicosia in 1979, Barbara will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a son, Michael J. Nicosia and his wife, Arlene of Haverhill, a daughter Patricia A. "Tricia" Holt and her husband, John "Jay" of Plaistow; grandsons, Mark J. Nicosia, Jason A. Holt and his fiancé, Nicole Thomas, and Eric P. Holt; grand-daughters, Tessia Blanchette and her husband Norman and Bryanna Nicosia; great-grandchildren, Ryan Blanchette and Emily Blanchette; a nephew William Hamel, Jr. and two nieces, Paula Beatrice and Ann Marie Nicosia.

Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service for Barbara to be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 12 o'clock p.m. in Saint Mary's /Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Methuen & Lawrence, MA. Following the graveside service, the family invites friends and family to attend a celebration of Barbara's life at the The Phoenician Restaurant, 12 Alpha St, Haverhill MA. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Saint Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN.
