Hampstead, NH: Barbara M. (Slade) McGlew, 64, a resident of Hampstead since 1997, died peacefully at her home on August 18, 2020, following a long battle with several illnesses.

Born in Malden, MA on August 17, 1956, she was the daughter of Christa Holschen of Hampstead and the late Robert Slade. She was raised and educated in Atkinson, NH, attending the Atkinson Academy and was a member of Timberlane Regional High School Class of 1974. Barbara enjoyed making crafts and sold her creations through her business, Magic Beans.

In her younger years, Barbara enjoyed horseback riding, especially trail riding. She looked forward to the holidays and was always happy cooking and baking for her family and friends. She had a kind heart and lent her support to several charities.

She is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her beloved husband of thirty-three years, Peter J. McGlew, a daughter Jessica Reidy of Brooklyn, NY, her mother Christa Holschen of Hampstead, two brothers, Bruce Slade of Mason, NH, and Jack Slade of Tennessee, a sister Zina Slade of Atkinson, a nephew Garrett Slade and a niece, Jamie Slade and several cousins.

A funeral service under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home of Plaistow will be held at a later date.
