Obituary

Haverhill, MA:  Barbara A. (McCarthy) Dube, 75, of Haverhill, died on July 5, 2022 at the Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill.

Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, she was raised by her mother and step-father, the late Arlene (Curtin) (McCarthy) Pelosi and Madeo Pelosi.  Barbara  attended Haverhill public schools and Haverhill High School, where she was a member of the marching band and graduated with the Class of 1965.  She worked as a Secretary for W. T. Grants department store, and for the City of Haverhill  (Hale) Hospital in the Accounting Department.

A member of St. James Parish of Haverhill, Barbara was also a member of the New England Square and Round Dancing Association, a Charter Member of the Hill Town Square Dancing Club and the Eastern District Dance Association.  She was also a member of the Winnekenni Castle Foundation. Active in local politics, she was a member of the Haverhill Democratic City Committee and spent many years working at the city election polls.

As a young woman, Barbara took part in competitive roller skating. She was an accomplished seamstress, cross stitcher, cook and baker, and owned and operated Cakes by Barbara, known for her wedding cakes and candy making. An artist who enjoyed painting in different mediums--oils, acrylics and pastels, she was also adept at Towle painting.  Around her home she was pretty much a "Do it Yourself" person, long before the DIY term was popular.  She also enjoyed playing cards, especially canasta, 45's and poker and always looked forward to traveling, trips to the beach and summer camping.

Pre-deceased in 2005 by her loving husband, John F. Dube, Jr.,  Barbara will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her two daughters, Kathleen P. Archambault and her significant other, Matt Quevillon of Georgetown, MA and Kerri M. Egan and her husband, Shawn of Haverhill, MA; a sister, Linda J. (Pelosi) Hamel of Haverhill, MA; a brother-in-law, Thomas Dube of Nashua, NH; four grandchildren, Tyler Dube-Perez, Arielle Dube-Perez and her significant other, Anthony Hawks, Ryan Archambault, Jr. and Reid Archambault; two great grandchildren, Aubree and Axton Hawks and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was pre-deceased by two brothers, John J. McCarthy, Jr. and Robert McCarthy.

Relatives and friends may attend Barbara's Life Celebration to be held on Monday, July 11, 2022, from 5 to 8 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.  Her funeral will begin on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at 9:30 AM from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. James Church, 185 Winter St., Haverhill, MA.  Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill, MA.
