Hampstead, NH: Barbara J. (Cortese) Stavropoulos, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017.

Barbara always wore a smile that warmed any heart. She was a hairdresser for thirty-four years, and enjoyed the friendships that blossomed during that time.

Barb leaves behind her husband Arthur of forty-nine years. The two spent their retirement years hiking the Squam Lakes region, laughing and coddling their dog,Thea. She spent her days cooking and laughing with her best friends, the sort of laughs you could hear rooms away. It was never difficult to identify whom she was talking to at any moment.

She also leaves her son James, daughter Pamela Simoneau and her husband David, and grandchildren Alex and Madison.

Barb's two children, Pamela and James, owe who they are today to her constant care, devotion, love and comedic stylings. They will miss her beyond words. Their daily conversations and culinary insights will become significantly duller without the pearls of wisdom and genius she peppered into every conversation.

Barb's main source of joy in life was her two grandchildren, Alex and Madison. They challenged her every day to dig deep into herself to service up views on the world, kitchen projects, crafts, and general entertainment options that boggled the mind. In return, they gave her a sense of purpose and achievement that she recounted in every conversation with heartwarming excitement. Amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all, she will be missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Life Celebration to be held on Monday, August 28, 2017, from 4 – 7 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will follow at 7:15 P.M. at the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to The Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Apostles Saints Peter and Paul, 154 Winter St., Haverhill, MA.
