KINGSTON, NH – Barbara S. Childs (Connell), age 64, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Richard Childs with whom she shared 35 years of marriage, and a mother to four children; Rebecca, Justin, Josh, and Carley.

She was born in Lawrence, MA on July 19th, 1959 and was the daughter of the late William and Irene Connell (Cheney) .

Barbara grew up in Atkinson NH, with her parents and four siblings. Her childhood home was surrounded by family. After graduating high school she ran a store at Salisbury Beach with her first husband, Mark Sgro, for many years, where she had her first child, Rebecca. She then took on aerobics instructing while being a single mom. Soon after, meeting the love of her life Rick Childs. While being supported by Rick, she started her journey as a dental assistant and had her second child, Justin. As Justin got older she started classes for making stained glass in Plum Island, it soon became her main hobby and passion. Over the years she has made many beautiful pieces that still hang in her and Rick's home. Barbara and Rick's family continued to grow and later had Joshua, where she became a stay at home mom and took care of all the family's needs. In 2015, Barbara and Rick got their fostering license and soon started fostering their niece Carley, who had already been a big part of their lives for the majority of hers. In 2017, Carley was formally adopted as she was the missing piece of their family. Barbara lived the rest of her life loving and caring for Rick, her four children and two grandchildren.

Besides her husband Rick Childs, she is survived by her four children Rebecca del'Etolie, Justin Childs, Joshua Childs, and Carley Childs. Her two grandchildren, Asher del'Etoile and Oliver Wilson. She is also survived by two sisters, Wendy Lewis and Janet Ingham, and one brother, Bill Connell.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, December 15, 2023 from 5pm – 8pm at the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home 116 Main St. Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10am at Atkinson Congregational Church 99 Main St. Atkinson, NH. Interment will be held privately.
