Haverhill: Aurea L. (Cartier) DiProfio, 98, a native and lifelong resident of Haverhill, died January 26, 2019 in Haverhill.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Regina (Arel) Cartier, she attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and Haverhill High School. Mrs. DiProfio was first employed in the local shoe industry, notably Shaine Shoe Co and Hartmann Shoe Co and later was employed over twenty years as an inspector at Western Electric Co. and AT&T Technologies until her retirement.
A member of All Saints Parish and the former St. Rita's Parish, she was also a member of the Communication Workers of America Local 1365, and the Telephone Pioneers and was active in local political campaigns. She enjoyed bowling as a member of the Saint Joseph Bowling League, line dancing, knitting, crocheting, and playing cards. In her later years, she enjoyed movies from all genres and time periods.
For many years, Mrs. DiProfio and her late husband Vincent and her late sister Pauline enjoyed spending their winters in Surprise, Arizona, and returned to the Haverhill area each spring to enjoy family celebrations and the company of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her husband Vincent J. DiProfio in 1996, she will be sadly missed by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lucille and Leonard Bonin of Atkinson, and Donna and James Michitson of Haverhill, a son and daughter-in-law, William A. and Pamela DiProfio of Newton, NH, a brother Robert L. Cartier of Guilford, CT, a sister Jeannette Barlow of Haverhill, seven grandchildren, Erica O'Choa of Colorado Springs, CO, Vincent E. DiProfio of Raymond, NH, Lt. Col William M. DiProfio of Denver, CO, Christopher Bonin of Mont Vernon, NH, Matthew Michitson and Adria Michitson, both of Haverhill, ten great-grandchildren, Joseph, Marie Aurea, Abigail, Madison, Marissa, Anthony, Jacob, Nicolas, Austin and Hunter, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, Jason Michitson in 2017, her brothers, Donat Cartier and Armand Cartier and sisters, Lydia Allard, Irma Lavallee, Sr. Rose Alpha, and Pauline Boudreau.
Mrs. DiProfio's family would like to acknowledge the loving care extended to their beloved mother by her grandson Matthew whose constant presence as her caregiver enabled her to stay in her home until her final day. They would also like to acknowledge the assistance at various times of the staffs of Merrimack Valley Visiting Nurses, Merrimack Valley Hospice, and Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. DiProfio's Calling Hours and Life Celebration to be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral will begin on Friday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery.
