Obituary

Haverhill: Arthur J. DuFour, 95, a native and lifelong resident of Haverhill, died February 7, 2017 at Wingate at Haverhill.

Known to many of his friends as "Bruise" or "Bruce" he was the son of the late Gilbert and Laura (Cote) DuFour, and attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and Haverhill High School.

Mr. DuFour served as a Corporal in the Signal Corps of the United States Army during W.W.II and saw action in battles in Normandy, Northern France, The Rhineland, The Ardennes and Central Europe. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, The WW II Victory Medal, The European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon, The Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon and the American Theatre Campaign Ribbon.

A gifted athlete, Mr. DuFour was a member of the former Red Wings Baseball Team and played for other semi-professional teams as well. He was employed in the local shoe industry and retired as a mailman and clerk at Northern Essex Community College in 1986.

A member of All Saints Parish and the former Saint Joseph Parish of Haverhill, he was also active in the former Franco American War Veterans and the Lafayette Club. He enjoyed bowling, music and watching the horseraces at Rockingham Park.

He was brother of the late Alma (DuFour) Picard, Edward DuFour and Henry DuFour, and is survived by his niece Elaine (Picard) Dodier, of Haverhill, several  grand-nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great grand nieces and nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday morning, February 11, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at BERUBE -Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway Haverhill. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in All Saints Church and concluding with burial with military honors in Saint Joseph Cemetery. Donations in his name may be made to All Saints Parish, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01832 .
