Dandurant
June 2, 1928 – June 16, 2019
East Hampstead, NH: Arnold J. Dandurant, 91, a resident of East Hampstead since 2009 and a former longtime resident of Atkinson for thirty-three years, died peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House.
Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, MA, son of the late John and Annie (Driscoll) Dandurant, he attended Haverhill High School and served in the U.S. Merchant Marine as a young man. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War Two and served honorably as a Seaman aboard the USS Constellation and the USS Duluth CL and was a recipient of the World War Two Victory Medal.
Mr. Dandurant was employed for twenty-six years at Pope Machinery Co. Inc. of Haverhill and retired as the Supervisor of the Paint Shop.
A devoted family man, Mr. Dandurant enjoyed fly-fishing and traveling with his wife, in his leisure time.
Predeceased by his wife Frances (Chase) Dandurant in 2012, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon A. and Stephen Wooster of Atkinson, a son and daughter-in-law, John A. and Theresa Dandurant of California, three grandchildren, Corrinne Fournier and her husband Andrew, Tara Graham and Ryan Dandurant, great-granddaughter Lilly Graham and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Debra Dandurant on May 20, 2019, as well as a brother Herman and eight sisters, Alice, Norma, Nannette, Natalie, Elsie, Stella, Anna and Eileen.
Relatives and friends are invited to Mr. Dandurant's Life Celebration to be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. His funeral will begin on Thursday morning, June 20, 2019 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in Saint Anne's Church, Emerson Avenue, Hampstead. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Haverhill, MA. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Boston, MA, or to the Alzheimer's Association of Massachusetts, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd. Waltham, MA.
