Haverhill, MA: Arline M. (Lawrence) Schloth , 84, a resident of Haverhill for most of her life, died unexpectedly, Wednesday evening, January 30, 2019, at Holy Family Medical Center at Merrimack Valley in Haverhill, following a brief illness.
Born in Lawrence, daughter of the late Edward H. and Eda (Giolito) Lawrence, she moved to Haverhill as child , where she was raised and educated. She attended the Tilton School in Haverhill and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1952.
As a young woman, Mrs. Schloth was employed at Western Electric Co. before taking time from the workforce to raise her family. She then worked as an Executive Housekeeper for the Howard Johnson Motel and Lodge chain.
A member of All Saints Parish and the former Saint Joseph Parish, Mrs. Schloth was a prayerful woman who was devoted to her faith and prayed the Rosary every day. She was also a forty-year volunteer for her parish, helping to maintain the cleanliness of the church with her co-worker Alice Gaudet. Together they kept the church facility immaculate and well decorated for all holiday and holydays during the church year.
She was a longtime member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Haverhill and the Third Order of Mary, and was inducted into the Haverhill Academy of Women in 2010 and recognized for her many years of service to her church community
A devoted wife of sixty-five years, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Schloth happily helped to raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed maintaining a warm and inviting home for her family. She was an avid reader and walker, who also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, arts and crafts, gardening and collecting decorative bird placques, and pottery items. She especially enjoyed traveling to Florida and Washington D.C. with her husband Richard to visit family.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her loving husband of sixty-five years, Richard J. Schloth, her son, Fr. Brian D. Schloth M.S. of Washington, DC, two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia A. and Philip "Pep" Wood of Haverhill, and Laurie C. and Lawrence Moll of Haverhill, six grandchildren, Matthew Wood, Melissa (Wood) Pagliuca, Andrew Wood, Kimberly Wood, Meredith (Moll) Kimball and Benjamin Moll, six great-grandchildren, Nicholas Wood, Thomas Wood, Amber Pagliuca, Cole Pagliuca, Connor Kimball and Maria Moll, as well as extended family and numerous friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours and Life Celebration to be held on Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral will begin on Monday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill.
