Arlene E. (Cochrane) O'Connor, 98, a resident of Bedford and formerly a resident of Hampstead for 60 years from 1963 – 2023 passed away peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2023 at The Arbors of Bedford. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles William O'Connor with whom she enjoyed 53 years of marriage.
She was born in Lawrence, MA on January 26, 1925, and was the daughter of the late Robert and Alice (O'Connell) Cochrane.
Arlene grew up in Lawrence, MA and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She later attended Bryant McIntosh Junior College in Lawrence. Arlene was a legal secretary in Newburyport for several years, and was employed as a secretary at Grover Insurance Agency in Hampstead. She enjoyed crafting and sewing. Arlene and Charles loved camping and travel. They took trips to Maine, particularly Ogunquit, spending time with friends and in-laws, David and Marion Bombard. Above all else, Arlene cherished time spent with her children and their families. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Barry O'Connor and his wife Donna of Derry, Kevin O'Connor and his wife Sharon of Sandown, and Glen O'Connor and his wife Kasey of Claremore, OK, her grandchildren, Timothy O'Connor, Jennifer Dee, Brianne O'Connor, Ryan O'Connor, Haley McKnight, Cameron O'Connor, and Kelly O'Connor, her 4 great grandchildren, Eli, Henry, Theodore, and Eloise. Arlene also leaves behind her close friends, John and Shirley Clemens and several nieces and nephews.
Arlene was sadly predeceased by her siblings, Robert Cochrane and his wife Gladys, Claire Duprey and her husband Wilfred, Helen Masten and her husband Edward.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday, April 24, 2023 from 5pm – 7pm at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin at 9:30am on Tuesday from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am in Saint Anne's Church, Emerson Avenue, Hampstead, NH. Interment will follow in Lakeview cemetery, Hampstead. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude cancer research at www.stjude.org.
