Sandown, NH: Anthony L "Tony" DiPietro, 86, a resident of Sandown for the past sixteen years, died peacefully on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry.
Born, raised, and educated in Lawrence, Massachusetts, son of the late Luigi and Sarah (Pappalardo) DiPietro, he was a member of the Lawrence High School Class of 1952, and later received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics Cum Laude from Northeastern University in 1958. He received his commission as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 1959, and was stationed in Japan for eighteen months. He also saw action during the Berlin Crisis and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain in 1962.
Mr. DiPietro was employed as an engineer and technical writer at AVCO in Wilmington, Wang Laboratories in Lowell, Sanders Associates in Nashua and finally Cabletron of Nashua, from where he retired.
A resident of Methuen, MA, for almost forty years, he was a member of Saint Lucy's Parish. He served as an usher and member of the Parish Council and was also a member of the Methuen Knights of Columbus. Moving to Sandown in 2004, Mr. DiPietro was a member of Saint Anne's Parish of Hampstead. He also served on the Town of Sandown Budget Committee.
Mr. DiPietro was devoted to his wife and his children and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and looked forward to the many family gatherings and events. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan and also enjoyed classic old movies and taking care of his bonsai trees. He and his wife enjoyed cruises, traveling across the United States, and world-wide trips together.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of sixty years, Josephine (Licciardello) DiPietro, two sons, Thomas A. DiPietro of Sandown, and Anthony V. DiPietro, and his wife Michelle of Methuen, three daughters and their husbands, Theresa and Paul Emond of Methuen, Sarah and Kevin Nason of Plaistow and Regina and Steven Keenan of Plaistow, a brother Vincent DiPietro and his wife Barbara of Arizona, eight grandchildren, Eric, Elisha, Elora, Travis, Jordan, Brianna, Andrew, and Bridgette, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Joyce Pepe and Alfrieda Grue.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH, following the State of New Hampshire guidelines for social distancing and the wearing of masks. His funeral will begin on Wednesday morning at 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne's Church, Emerson Avenue, Hampstead, followed by the rendering of Military Honors by the U.S. Army. Burial will be held in Center Cemetery, Sandown at a later date.
