Obituary

Ann M. (Richards) Dube, 85, of Fremont NH., earned her wings on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the Colonial Poplin Nursing Facility in Fremont, NH. Ann was the beloved wife of Gerard Dube, who predeceased her in 1996.

She was born in Lowell, MA., on February 13, 1939, and was the daughter of the late James and Anne (Seavey) Richards. Ann was raised and educated in Haverhill, MA and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1956. She was employed as an administrative assistant at various institutions. Ann later owned and operated Gold'N Dreams, a jewelry store in Newburyport, MA along with her husband and daughter Karen.

In a word, Ann was incandescent. She was a light in this world.  She showed kindness to every individual that she met. She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother who was the quintessential epitome of grace, beauty, kindness and stoic strength.  She gave of her heart openly, loved deeply, and touched the lives of those around her. Her family was her priority; she cared for each with passion, devotion, and empathy.

Ann enjoyed cooking, writing, reading books, and painting. She was always doing things for others – such as sewing outfits for dolls to give to children in need at Christmas time or cooking hundreds of whoopie pies for school outings! She always had a soft spot for animals - particularly cats. She volunteered in assisting with their care.

Ann stood for social equality issues in the earlier part of her life carried through in her later years. It was an important part of Ann's life where she felt very strong about using her voting power even in her final days.

Ann is survived by her children Kathy Paine and her husband David of Moultonborough, NH., Karen Barry of Atkinson, NH., Marcelle Sickel and her husband Arthur of Atkinson, NH., Steven Dube and his wife Lisa of Manchester, NH., and Maureen Dube of Hookset, NH., her grandchildren Whitney, Mandi, Natalie, Briar, Aaron, Courtney, Austin, Brady, Brandi, Shane and his wife Sierra, Autumn, Stephanie, Tyler, Alex, and Dane, as well as her sister Deborah Gilman.

She was regrettably predeceased by her siblings Bob Richards, Bill Richards, and Rena Zangri.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 5pm – 7pm at the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home 116 Main St. Plaistow, NH. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 11am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Plaistow.
