Angelo P. Castiglione,91, a resident of Kingston, since 2021, died peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Born, raised and educated in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the son of the late Antonio and Jeanne (Martineau) Castiglione, he graduated from Lawrence High School with the Class of 1950, and later moved to Methuen with his family where he resided for several years.
He served in the U.S. Navy for four years before his honorable discharge and was then employed in the local shoe industry and AVCO. At the time of his retirement, Mr. Castiglione was employed as an engineer at Lincoln Labs at Hanscomb Field.
As a young man, Mr. Castiglione met his wife at a social event and knew immediately that she would be the love of his life. They married in 1953 and together they enjoyed sixty-eight years of marriage before her death in 2021.
During the years that he lived in Methuen, he was active as a member of the Jaycees and coached Babe Ruth Baseball. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who enjoyed family events and spending holidays at his son's home. A kind and gregarious man, he lived life to the fullest and could always be counted on to be the life of the party.
Mr. Castiglione and his wife moved to Laconia, NH in 1996, to enjoy living in the Lakes Region and boating on Lake Winnipesaukee. He was an active member of the Briar Crest Homeowners' Association and kept a boat at Lakeport Landing Marina. For many years, he and his wife enjoyed spending winters in Fort Lauderdale and traveling throughout the United States and Europe.
He is survived by four sons, Steven A. Castiglione and his fiancé Ann Holden of Pelham, NH, Gary Castiglione and his fiancé Anna Marie Murphy of Newton, NH, Mark J. Castiglione and his wife Claire of Londonderry, NH, and Paul Castiglione and his wife Wendy of Derry, ten grandchildren, Steven Jr., Jessica, Jennifer, Kendra, Tamara, Kyle, Danielle, Katelynn, Brandon and Joshua, fourteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Crossland) Castiglione and his brother Anthony Castiglione.
Relatives and friends are invited to Mr. Castiglione's Life Celebration to be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will follow at 12 O'clock Noon in the chapel of the funeral home. His burial with military honors will take place at 2 p.m. at the State of NH Veterans' Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
